Participating in the PDF Techniques Accessibility Summit

The PDF Techniques Accessibility Summit’s objective is to establish a broad-based understanding of how PDF files should be tagged for accessibilty. It’s an opportunity to focus on establishing a common set of examples of accessible PDF content, and identify best-practice when tagging difficult cases.

Modernizing PDF Techniques for Accessibility

The PDF Techniques Accessibility Summit will identify best-practices in tagging various cases in PDF documents. Questions to be addressed will likely include: the legal ways to tag a nested list, the correct way to caption multiple images, the appropriate way to organize content within headings.

Refried PDF

My hospital emailed me a medical records release form as a PDF. They told me to print it, fill it, sign it, scan it and return it to the medical records department, in that order. In 2018? To get the form via email (i.e., electronically), yet be asked to print it? Did the last 20 years just… not mean anything! So I thought I’d be clever. I’d fill it first, THEN print it. Or better yet, never print it, but sign it anyhow, and return it along with a note making the case for improving their workflow. The story continues…

Five reasons members’ marketing executives should participate in PDF Days Europe

PDF marketingWhat is the state of the electronic document marketplace? How can PDF 2.0 or veraPDF help us to sell more software? Where is the technology going, and when? Are new paradigms on the horizon, and what role will PDF technology play in that future?

PDF Days Europe, the annual PDF technology education event, happens from 14 to 16 May 2018 in Berlin, at the Hotel Steglitz International. Here are five reasons why industry professionals in marketing, business development and sales should attend:

  • The meeting place: With more than 200 participants from all over the world, PDF Days Europe is the meeting-place for the PDF industry and a touchstone for the larger document management, ECM, CCM and print industries. From manufacturers and developers to users and experts. It’s an ideal opportunity to make valuable contacts.
  • The marketplace: May 14 and 15 include a track dedicated to the electronic document marketplace, including industry-level initiatives and special topics for the members of the PDF Association.
  • The future: We’ll be looking into the future. Several sessions will look forwards into the future of electronic documents. On May 15th, five longtime industry experts will present their individual visions for the next 25 years of PDF.
  • The pitches: This also applies to technological issues. The supplier presentation on May 15 demonstrates how this can be achieved in view of the complexity. Various manufacturers present their products concisely in five minutes.
  • The air: Breathing the proverbial Berlin air can be really inspiring. Berlin is not only the capital of Germany, but also a synonym for creativity and a symbol of successful change and diversity. Berlin is also easily accessible from anywhere in Europe and around the world.
